When we talk about Direct Air Capture (DAC), we only speak about the capturing of atmospheric CO2.
When we use the term Direct Air Capture and Storage (DAC+S), we refer to the capturing of atmospheric CO2 with its permanent storage to produce negative emissions.
It involves two main steps:
- Carbon dioxide is captured from ambient air via direct air capture technology
- The air-captured CO2 is permanently stored for thousands of years, for example via underground mineralization.
